Tribocorrosion Behaviour of a Ti–25Nb–3Zr–2Sn–3Mo Alloys Induction Nitride Layer in a Simulated Body Fluid Solution

Ti–25Nb–3Zr–2Sn–3Mo (TLM) alloys have been used in orthopaedics due to their excellent biocompatibility. However, the poor tribological performance caused by low shear strength limits applicability of TLM alloy. Herein, surface alloy was strengthened induction nitriding technology, and microstructure formed nitride layer as well its corrosion property were investigated X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) electrochemical workstation. The results showed that a gradient with thickness ~30 μm obtained on after microhardness also increased from approximately 230 HV 1253 HV. Meanwhile, resistance simulated body fluids (SBFs), significantly improved layer, which supported potential value increasing −665.77 (the raw sample) −241.00 mV nitrided sample).
